Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A CHINESE man appeared in court yesterday facing a theft charge for allegedly stealing US$212 165 from his employer.<\/p>\n

The suspect, Wang Zhiming (29), faces a charge of theft of trust property.<\/p>\n

He was remanded in custody to today by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi for bail application.<\/p>\n

State prosecutor Thomas Chanakira alleged that on May 22, the complainant conducted an audit of the company\u2019s financial accounts and discovered that US$212 165 was missing.<\/p>\n

The money had been deposited into the company\u2019s accounts by clients for services rendered between January 2022 and February 2024.<\/p>\n

The court heard that Wang converted the money to personal use.<\/p>\n

Court papers did not state Wang\u2019s position at the company, but only indicated that he received the money on behalf of the complainant.<\/p>\n
