{"id":96123,"date":"2024-07-04T11:58:40","date_gmt":"2024-07-04T09:58:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/zambezi-basin-project-receives-us10m-funding"},"modified":"2024-07-04T14:17:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-04T12:17:49","slug":"zambezi-basin-project-receives-us10m-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/zambezi-basin-project-receives-us10m-funding","title":{"rendered":"Zambezi basin project receives US$10m funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>THE African Development Bank (AfDB) has secured more than US$18 million in funding from the Global Environment Facility for management of water, energy, food and environmental resources within the Zambezi River Basin.<\/p>\n<p>The first project, \u201cStrengthening Zambezi River Basin Management towards Climate Resilience and Ecosystem Health,\u201d has been allocated US$10,57 million.<\/p>\n<p>The second project, titled Global Electronics Management programme (Horn of Africa Regional Child Project)\u201d, received US$7,83 million meant to address the growing challenge of electronic waste (e-waste) in Somalia, Djibouti and Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>The Zambezi River Basin project is expected to benefit millions through advancements in agriculture, fisheries and dam operations.<\/p>\n<p>It also focuses on promoting trans-boundary co-operation, integrated planning and adaptive management practices to boost the basin\u2019s resilience and the health of the basin\u2019s ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>AfDB climate change and green growth director Anthony Nyong said: \u201cThrough these projects, the AfDB continues to lead the way in promoting environmental sustainability and resilience, driving positive change for both people and the planet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese projects represent a continued commitment by AfDB to foster sustainable development and resilience throughout Africa, addressing critical environmental challenges through innovative and collaborative approaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Zimbabwe Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
