{"id":96190,"date":"2024-07-06T10:46:33","date_gmt":"2024-07-06T08:46:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/sa-based-miner-loses-r440k-to-fraudster"},"modified":"2024-07-06T12:55:31","modified_gmt":"2024-07-06T10:55:31","slug":"sa-based-miner-loses-r440k-to-fraudster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/sa-based-miner-loses-r440k-to-fraudster","title":{"rendered":"SA-based miner loses R440K to fraudster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>A SOUTH AFRICA-BASED mining company was defrauded of R440 000 by a suspected fraudster after attempting to acquire a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Harare magistrate Stranley Mambanje yesterday remanded Calton Mudiwiwa (39) out of custody to July 26 for routine remand pending finalisation of investigations.<\/p>\n<p>The complainant in this case is Davure Mining, represented by its manager Masimba Mukarati.<\/p>\n<p>Davure Mining is a holding company, which has its subsidiaries in South Africa and Zimbabwe and has interests in mining, cattle ranching and agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard that on October 20, 2021, Mukarati wanted to acquire a Toyota Hilux Legend 50 double-cab from South Africa and he shared the information with Mudiwiwa, who subsequently volunteered to assist him to import the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Davure Mining had free funds in its South Africa FNB Bank account and paid the vehicle price to Wish Worthy Investments on the instruction of Mudiwiwa.<\/p>\n<p>After the payment, Mukarati reportedly availed proof of payment to Mudiwiwa for ease of reference, but the latter allegedly failed to import the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>Mudiwiwa started giving false promises and later became evasive, the prosecution alleged.<\/p>\n<p>Mukarati then reported the matter to the police, leading to Mudiwiwa\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Zimbabwe Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
