{"id":98620,"date":"2024-09-13T23:16:59","date_gmt":"2024-09-13T21:16:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/gmb-loses-us1-350m-to-hackers"},"modified":"2024-09-14T01:21:28","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T23:21:28","slug":"gmb-loses-us1-350m-to-hackers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.cc\/zimbabwe\/all-news\/gmb-loses-us1-350m-to-hackers","title":{"rendered":"GMB loses US$1.350m to hackers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe. <\/strong><\/span>TWO Harare men have appeared in court for allegedly defrauding the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) of US$1 350 000 after they hacked the company\u2019s email accounts.<\/p>\n<p>Blessing Nhapata (40) and Challenge Phiri (40) were charged with fraud when they appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa.<\/p>\n<p>The duo was remanded in custody to Friday for bail application.<\/p>\n<p>The complainant is the GMB represented by Misheck Mupondiwa (47), the company\u2019s integrity officer.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutor Anesu Chirenje said on September 10 this year, the duo allegedly hacked the email of Parrence Chikerema, a GMB accountant.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard that the accused then sent messages instructing the Commercial Bank of Zimbabwe and AFC Bank to transfer US$1 200 000 and US$150 000 respectively from the GMB account into Success Microfinance Treasury\u2019s bank account.<\/p>\n<p>The matter was then reported at Harare Central Police Station, leading to the pair\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Zimbabwe Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Zimbabwe.
